Product Information

Another great kit from Toyo by Makoto Yamaguchi! Kodomo no Hi (literally "Children's Day") is a national Japanese holiday on May 5th that celebrates the happiness of all children. The Kabuto (Japanese helmet) is one of the ubiquitous symbols of the holiday and a popular kazari (decoration), displayed for the occasion in many households.

This kit includes all of the materials needed to make a Kabuto (helmet) with Kuwagata  (helmet crest), and agemaki (decorative knots), display stand, accessories, and background screen. All that is needed are scissors and glue.

  • 2 sheets textured double-sided (gold/black) Momi paper (1 sheet of 24x24cm and 1 sheet 24x12 cm)
  • 2 sheets of  black Tant paper (textured, same color on both sides, 15 cm (6"))
  • 2 sheets printed accessories to be folded (display stand, arrows, quiver, and sword)
  • 1 sheet of  Mingei-washi (purple on both sides, 20x10 cm)
  • 1 Dragon and tiger themed black and gold background screen printed on gloss surfaced cardboard (29.6x15.0 cm)
  • 24 page booklet of instructions (12 in English, 12 in Japanese)
